On September 11, 2026, in Jaipur, India, Vietnamese students made a strong showing at the ARCASIA Student’s Architectural Design Competition 2026 (SDC 2026), held as part of the 23rd ARCASIA Forum, winning one Silver Award and one Bronze Award.

SDC 2026 was organized by ARCASIA, with academic oversight by the ARCASIA Committee on Architectural Education (ACAE) and the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) serving as host and curator of the Forum. Under the published competition rules, the awards comprised one Gold Award, one Silver Award and three Bronze Awards. Each ARCASIA member institute was permitted to nominate up to three projects for the regional final, with Vietnam’s entries selected domestically by the Vietnam Association of Architects (VAA).

According to the results announced at the awards ceremony, the Silver Award went to The Alluvial Trap by student Huy Gia Nguyen, nominated by the Vietnam Association of Architects. The project explores infrastructure and living environments in alluvial and waterside settings, in dialogue with this year’s forum theme, “Bringing Back… Vernacular Wisdom”, and seeks to reinterpret traditional building knowledge in response to contemporary climatic and community needs.

Also among the winning entries, the Bronze Award was presented to Roofs Matching by student Vo Hong Phuc Le (Smith), likewise nominated by VAA. The project focuses on roof systems and natural ventilation, combining materials and forms closely associated with vernacular architecture in a mountainous, forested context.
The 23rd ARCASIA Forum took place from September 8 to 12, 2026, with activities held in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. The Jaipur programme on September 11 and 12 featured professional sessions as well as the SDC 2026 awards ceremony. Kajaria was among the Forum’s award partners, serving as a Gold & Award Partner.
The 2026 results continue a series of achievements by Vietnamese students at previous editions of the SDC, including the Silver Award in 2022 for Volcano Eye from the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City, nominated by VAA, as well as awards received in the 2023 edition. These results further reflect the growing presence of Vietnam’s emerging generation of architects within the region’s architectural education community.
