Conference on the Announcement of the Hanoi Capital Master Plan with a 100-Year Vision and the 2026 Investment Promotion Program

The exhibition is one of the key events within the framework of the Conference on the Announcement of Hanoi’s 100-Year Master Plan and the 2026 Investment Promotion Program, introducing the capital’s comprehensive development strategies, long-term vision, and spatial planning for the new era. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman Dương Đức Tuấn emphasized that the announcement of the Hanoi Master Plan carries profound political and socio-economic significance, representing the implementation of Decision No. 2512/QĐ-UBND approving the city’s 100-year master plan.

Beyond defining the city’s physical development, the master plan embodies a long-term strategic vision that places people at its center, regards cultural depth as an intrinsic development resource, and aims to transform Hanoi into a “Cultured – Smart – Creative – Ecological” capital with an increasingly prominent position both regionally and globally. Covering an area of 3,359 square kilometers and encompassing all 126 commune- and ward-level administrative units, the plan establishes a multi-layered, multi-tiered, multi-polar, and multi-centered urban structure. At its core, the Red River corridor is envisioned as the city’s principal ecological and cultural landscape axis, serving as a new engine for urban development.

As one of Hanoi’s landmark cultural institutions, the Hanoi Museum was selected as the exhibition venue, offering the public an opportunity to explore the city’s planning, architectural evolution, and historical development through a contemporary, highly visual, and interactive exhibition format. By co-organizing the event, the museum further reinforces its role not only as a guardian of cultural heritage but also as a bridge connecting the city’s major development policies and visions with residents and visitors.

Designed to be modern, accessible, and engaging, the exhibition incorporates a wide range of presentation technologies that make highly technical planning concepts easier for the public to understand. A centerpiece on the museum’s ground floor is a 7-meter-diameter circular master plan model, presenting a comprehensive overview of Hanoi’s 100-year development vision. Enhanced by 3D projection mapping, the model delivers an immersive visual experience, enabling visitors to better understand the city’s spatial structure, major development zones, and the transformation envisioned for Hanoi in the decades ahead.

On the museum’s fourth floor, an exhibition space covering approximately 1,200 square meters presents a carefully curated collection of large-format display panels illustrating Hanoi’s planning history across different periods, alongside maps outlining future urban spatial development, technical infrastructure systems, land-use planning, and functional zoning.

Visitors at the exhibition

Visitors can also experience a 3D documentary film on the master plan, explore the city’s pilot digital planning information platform, view architectural drawings and models of representative projects, and learn about Hanoi’s key future development strategies.

Through its exhibition content, the event introduces the overarching objectives of the Hanoi Master Plan, which seeks to transform the capital into a global city characterized by a high quality of life and balanced economic, cultural, social, and environmental development. The plan identifies several transformative initiatives, including regional development based on a core-and-satellite model; expansion of the urban railway network integrated with transit-oriented development (TOD); the creation of new growth poles such as the Free Trade Zone linked to the Northern Airport City and the Hòa Lạc Science and Technology City; the establishment of the Red River Landscape Boulevard; and the development of a green, smart, and sustainable city committed to achieving net-zero emissions.

Immediately following the opening ceremony, the Hanoi Museum welcomed thousands of residents and visitors eager to explore the exhibition, reflecting widespread public interest and optimism for a capital that continues to modernize while preserving its distinctive cultural identity.

The Hanoi Master Plan Exhibition – A 100-Year Vision offers every visitor an opportunity to reflect on the city’s remarkable journey, appreciate its present achievements, and envision the future of a sustainably developing Hanoi. The Hanoi Museum warmly welcomes the public to visit the exhibition, experience its interactive displays, and share in the pride and affection for Vietnam’s thousand-year-old capital.
