Thai Nguyen Architects Association Holds First Congress for the 2026 – 2030 Term

Held in the formal setting of the Vietnam Museum of the Cultures of Ethnic Groups – a landmark designed by architect Hoang Nhu Tiep and first constructed in 1960 – the First Congress of the Thai Nguyen Architects Association for the 2026 – 2030 term marked an important milestone in the consolidation of the organisation and the continued development of the province’s architectural community.

Architect Hoang Nhu Tiep, whose work provided the venue for the congress, is regarded as one of the leading figures of modern Vietnamese architecture. He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts (first round) by the President of Vietnam and was among the eight founding architects of the Vietnam Association of Architects in 1948, later serving as the organisation’s Secretary General.

The Thai Nguyen Architects Association was established in 1976. It is a member organisation of the Vietnam Association of Architects and also holds collective membership in the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association, the Thai Nguyen Union of Science and Technology Associations, and the Thai Nguyen Union of Literature and Arts Associations. Over nearly five decades of development, the Association has steadily strengthened its professional role, contributing to local socio-economic development and helping shape the architectural, urban and rural landscape of the province.

Thai Nguyen is currently home to more than 100 architects working across a wide range of fields, including 93 official members of the Association. In addition, the Young Architects Club, operating under the Association, brings together nearly 100 members and has become an active next-generation force, contributing to professional exchange and intergenerational connection within the field.

At the congress, delegates elected the Executive Committee for the 2026 – 2030 term, comprising 11 official members and three alternate members. Architect Nguyen Van Cuong was elected President of the Thai Nguyen Architects Association.

The first congress represents not only an organisational milestone but also the beginning of a new phase of development for the Thai Nguyen Architects Association. It opens up expectations for higher professional standards, a stronger role in consultancy and social critique, and more meaningful contributions to the province’s sustainable development in the years ahead.
