In recent days, Storm No. 10 (Bualoi) and Storm No. 11 (Matmo), along with their circulation systems and resulting floods, have caused devastating loss of life and property across numerous provinces and cities, particularly in the Central Region, Northwest, and Việt Bắc. According to reports from authorities, the disasters have claimed many lives; hundreds of thousands of homes have collapsed, lost their roofs, been severely damaged, or submerged; thousands of infrastructure facilities, schools, and medical stations have been destroyed; with total economic losses amounting to tens of thousands of billions of VND. The lives of hundreds of thousands of people are now facing immense hardship and deprivation.
As the political–social–professional organization representing Vietnamese architects – entrusted by the Party and the State – and as those who shape living environments for the people, architects more than anyone understand the profound importance of having a solid home and a safe community.
Faced with these immense losses, and in the spirit of humanity and solidarity – mutual support and “The intact leaves protect the tattered ones” – the Vietnam Association of Architects (VAA) earnestly calls upon:
- All levels of the Association, from the central to local chapters;
- Architectural and construction consultancy firms, design companies, and organizations operating in the fields of architecture and construction;
- All members, architects, architecture students, and professionals nationwide;
to join hands in contributing financial aid, material supplies, and professional expertise to help affected communities overcome this difficult period, stabilize their lives, and begin rebuilding homes and restoring essential infrastructure.
