On the morning of November 12, 2024, at the Exhibition Center 93 Dinh Tien Hoang, the Award Ceremony of the Competition for Planning Ideas for a Multi-Functional Cultural Park at the middle and the riverside area of the Red River was held, co-organized by 04 districts including Hoan Kiem (chair), Ba Dinh, Long Bien, Tay Ho, and the Architecture Magazine under the direction of the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Vietnam Association of Architects. The excellent plans of the competition were introduced to the community in the 2024 Community Creative Ideas Exhibition chaired by the Organizing Committee of the Hanoi Creative Design Festival, calling on the community to contribute creative ideas to the City.
As one of the important projects of the City Party Committee and Hanoi People’s Committee on “Developing the middle and alluvial area of the Red River into a multi-functional cultural park”, the Competition for Planning Ideas for a Multi-functional Cultural Park at the middle and the riverside area of the Red River was organized to seek unique and creative design ideas, effectively exploiting the land fund of the middle and alluvial sandbanks of the Red River in the area of 4 districts: Hoan Kiem, Long Bien, Ba Dinh, Tay Ho into a worthy cultural park in the area; to effectively exploit the land fund, improve the landscape, environmental sanitation, socio-economic development, national security and defense. At the same time, aiming to concretize the approved Red River urban subdivision planning and orient the organization of landscape space of the Red River urban subdivision planning, scale 1/5000 (from Hong Ha bridge to Me So bridge) approved by the City People’s Committee.
Sharing at the Award Ceremony, Mr. Pham Tuan Long – Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee expressed: “The floating area in the middle of the Red River bank is a significant land fund, contrasting with the cramped living space of the inner city area. This is also the only remaining space to create an attractive public, ecological and cultural space for the community and tourists to the Capital. With the consensus of the 4 districts of Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Long Bien, Tay Ho, the Architecture Magazine and the direction of the City Party Committee, City People’s Committee, the Vietnam Association of Architects, the Planning Ideas Competition “Multi-functional Cultural Park in the floating area in the middle of the floating area and the Red River bank” was organized and received many creative ideas. Under the selection of the Council, the competition has selected highly practical options. Today we are honored to exhibit and award the entries. We would like to thank the authors for their contributions and hope that we will soon have a cultural park in the heart of the capital, worthy of the region.”
At the Award Ceremony, Mr. Phan Dang Son – Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Architects also said: “The competition was held in the spirit of innovation and creativity and has received a lot of attention from the community. When selecting the options, the Council was also very careful in finding options that are suitable for the development orientation of Hanoi in the future. The winning options have had serious and dedicated research, forming good ideas, helping to develop land funds, exploiting diverse areas of the middle and the banks of the Red River, however, all options need to be carefully studied according to the Council’s comments, edited and supplemented to be more complete in promoting socio-economic development, making practical contributions to protecting the environment, landscape, cultural activities of the community, especially contributing to the cultural development of the city.”
Launched on May 10, 2024, the competition has attracted the attention of public opinion as well as the participation of domestic and foreign professionals. Nearly 30 carefully researched and carefully presented entries from prestigious design units, domestic and international joint ventures etc. participated in the competition. This has made the Judging Council work very hard to analyze, evaluate and award worthy prizes. After the selection rounds, the members of the Selection Council agreed that there is no First Prize. Aiming to recognize and encourage the spirit of research and creativity of the consulting units, the Council discussed with the Organizing Committee and decided to select 02 Second Prize and 01 Third Prize entries.
