Architect Hoang Thuc Hao receives the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture 2025 in Venice, Italy

On May 6, 2025, at the University of Architecture of Venice (IUAV), Italy, architect Hoang Thuc Hao (Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Architects) – one of the pioneers of humanistic and sustainable architecture in Vietnam – was officially awarded the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture 2025. This is one of the most prestigious awards in the field of international architecture, honoring architects with outstanding contributions to promoting architecture for people, for the community and for the planet.

The award recognizes Hoang Thuc Hao’s journey of more than two decades in creating architectural works with profound community significance, in harmony with the natural environment and indigenous culture – from the rocky plateau of Ha Giang to the sunny and windy Central region. His projects are not just buildings, but symbols of knowledge sharing, respect for identity, and promoting sustainable development for vulnerable communities.

At the award ceremony, Mr. Hao shared: “Architecture is not just about constructing buildings, but about building people and communities. We do not do architecture for ourselves, but to connect, listen and co-create with society.”

The Global Sustainable Architecture Award was founded in 2006 by Dr. Jana Revedin under the auspices of UNESCO, and has honored many pioneering architects in the world in innovative, humane and ecological thinking.
