On December 15, the Bac Giang Provincial Association of Architects held its 2nd Congress, evaluating the results of its activities during the 2018-2024 term and setting out directions and tasks for the 2024-2029 term. At this congress, the Bac Giang Association of Architects elected a new Executive Committee and admitted new members.
Attending the Congress were Mr. Mai Son, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Dr. Architect Phan Dang Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Architects; and representatives of the leaders of the Association of Architects in the provinces of Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Yen Bai, and Lang Son.
According to the report at the Congress, the Provincial Association of Architects currently has 77 members. The members work in many agencies and units in both the state and private sectors.
During the past term, the Provincial Association of Architects made significant contributions to social critiques and was entrusted by provincial agencies, departments, and branches, as well as districts, towns, and cities, with many important tasks, such as participating in the appraisal council for planning projects of the province and various districts, towns, and cities, including industrial parks, residential areas, urban areas, and trade and service areas. They also contributed opinions to investment policies for key projects in the area. The architects have left their mark in design consultancy through the successful implementation of many typical, large-scale projects such as the Sports and Physical Training Center, the Provincial Cultural-Exhibition Center, the new Inter-agency Building of Bac Giang province, school projects, offices, etc.
The Provincial Architects Association also participates in the Arts Council and contributes many ideas to the construction of typical cultural and historical works of the province, such as the project to build the Monument of the famous person Than Nhan Trung and the Monument of National Hero Hoang Hoa Tham.
In the 2018-2024 term, the Association admitted 27 new members. Along with strengthening the organization, the Bac Giang Provincial Architects Association focused on the activities of the Bac Giang Young Architects Club, cultural and sports activities, participation in architectural exhibitions, and exchanges and learning between members and the Association of Architects of other provinces, creating an environment for young architects to engage in the Association’s activities.
At the Congress, delegates discussed and proposed many solutions to continue improving the quality of the Association’s activities in the coming term, such as professional training for members, building a strong association organization, and providing experiences in design and planning for young architects.
Speaking at the Congress, Comrade Mai Son and Architect Phan Dang Son congratulated the Bac Giang Association of Architects on the achievements during the past term. They affirmed that the architects had made significant contributions to the socio-economic development process, especially in creating cultural, historical, urban, rural, and industrial highlights of the province. They also helped promote the image of Bac Giang’s land and people to friends across the country through exhibitions and architectural exchanges. They emphasized the need to actively develop members, improve the quality of association activities, and participate in social and charitable activities, contributing to strengthening the Vietnam Association of Architects.
Comrade Mai Son emphasized that the Bac Giang Provincial Association of Architects should be more daring in connecting and participating in architectural competitions organized by the Vietnam Association of Architects, creating opportunities and useful platforms for members. The Bac Giang Young Architects Club should operate more systematically, gathering, attracting, and connecting young architects to participate in the Association’s activities, serving the socio-economic development of the province.
Bac Giang is developing strongly in industry, so the Provincial Association of Architects needs to participate deeply in advising the province on industrial planning in a scientific and reasonable manner to attract effective investment.
Construction works must promote the local architectural cultural identity, associated with green, smart, and energy-saving development. The province’s architects need to generate many creative ideas, participate in the planning of regions, urban areas, and transportation, and create a new look for these areas.
The Congress elected 9 members to the Executive Committee of the Bac Giang Provincial Association of Architects for the 2024-2029 term. Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Viet Bach Architecture Joint Stock Company, was re-elected as Chairman of the Provincial Association of Architects for the 2024-2029 term.
On this occasion, many collectives and individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Vietnam Association of Architects.
