Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the President of the Vietnam Association of Architects issued a notice calling on architects across the country to unite and support people who have been and are being affected by the typhoon, which has caused severe destruction. As of September 13, 2024, the Association Office has received a total amount of 456,350,000 VND from individuals and groups for storm and flood recovery and has promptly sent the entire amount to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Lao Cai province. The Vietnam Association of Architects accepted donations until September 20, 2024.

Typhoon No. 3 – Yagi, considered the most destructive in Vietnam’s 60-year history, recently swept through numerous northern provinces and cities, causing significant damage. The storms and floods left hundreds dead and missing; more than 10,000 houses were flooded, collapsed, or damaged; nearly 150,000 hectares of rice and crops were submerged and buried; over 1,000 livestock and aquaculture establishments were destroyed; many traffic routes, schools, medical facilities, and public infrastructure were severely damaged; many areas are isolated, and residential zones remain cut off.
On September 10, 2024, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front issued an appeal to ‘Support compatriots to overcome the damage caused by typhoon No. 3’: ‘The storm has passed, leaving behind extremely serious consequences. Many people need support and assistance. The Party and State have dedicated and will continue to dedicate resources to restore infrastructure, support economic recovery, and ensure people’s livelihoods. However, while the state budget remains limited, we must promote the tradition of solidarity and mutual love. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” and “Leaves protect the tattered ones,” so the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front earnestly calls on our compatriots and soldiers nationwide, our compatriots abroad, member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, social organizations, businesses, philanthropists both at home and abroad, and foreigners living and working in Vietnam, to join together and help spiritually and materially. Together with the Party and State, we can quickly restore production and ensure people’s livelihoods.’
The Vietnam Association of Architects calls on all Vietnamese architects, Association members, and local branches of architects nationwide to unite, contribute, and support the people in areas that have been and are being severely affected by storms and floods.
